CHIHAYA

日本国内では刃物の規制が強い。日本で６cm以上の刃物の携帯が禁止されている。また運搬についても厳しく制限されている。このナイフは、安全に簡易的にナイフを携行し運搬できる。

The law regulation of knives are very strict in Japan. Knives over 6cm in length cannot be carried or transported. This blade was made with the law in mind, and users can carry this knife with peace of mind knowing that it abides by Japanese knife laws.

LOCK SYSTEM

ブレードとシースを鍵で固定するロックシステムにより、法22条の定める安全な運搬を実現します。安全な運送とは運搬の用具を用いて所持者自身がその物の場所的移動を行う場合を指します。

The design of the sheath and blade allows users to fix them together with a lock system that instantly transforms the portability of the knife from a “Carry” to “Safe Transport”, as defined by Article 22 of the Japanese knife legislation.

BLADE SHAPE

短い刃渡りを最大限活かせるストレートなシープスフット形状のブレードを採用しました。鋭利な先端はカッターナイフのような日々の使用にも最適です。

To abide by the size and length restriction of the law, I adopted a straight sheep’s foot design to make the most of the short blade. The sharp tip, similar to that of a box cutter or x-acto knife, is perfect for everyday use.

FINAL SKETCH

スケッチでハンドルのグラインドや、シェイプの検証をした。ブレードのグラインドやジンピングの位置も最終的に決定した。

After sketching, I grinded the handle according my sketched designs. The grind and gimping positions of the blades were also finalized in my sketching process.
